Nick Foles Odds To Start 2018 Season
One of the more interesting props on betting boards heading into the Super Bowl concerns the odds that Nick Foles starts on opening day 2018. At BetDSI (the online home of the best Super Bowl props on the planet, by the way), the odds that the Eagles backup quarterback starts at QB for an NFL franchise in Week 1 next season is trending at +150 for “yes” and -200 for “no.”
Clearly, barring some sort of horrible re-injury or infection or similar roadblock to Carson Wentz ACL recovery, Foles will not be the starter for the Eagles. Wentz is their long-term solution at the position for now, and – even though he must be bummed out to be limited to sideline duties at his first-ever Super Bowl appearance – his job is not in jeopardy any more than Tom Brady’s on the other side.
That said, Nick Foles is in a solid position – with a solid performance on Sunday – to be an interesting trade for the Eagles to a team that needs him. He’s slated to make about $4 million next year, which would be a bargain for a competent NFL quarterback with deep playoff experience (and some fantastic highlights in those playoffs). And it goes without saying that there are a number of NFL teams in desperate need a competent QB. Philadelphia will almost certainly trade Nick Foles – Super Bowl win or not – once they’re able to shake up the roster. In fact, it seems like such a sure thing that the Eagles trade Foles ASAP (again, barring injury) that BetDSI’s +150 odds look awfully compelling. It’s not free money, but it seems pretty close to it.
